Updated CPT Test Plan Now Available

At NHA we are dedicated to providing access to personal and professional improvement- directly impacting better patient care. With the help of numerous subject matter experts in the field, we have conducted a nationwide Job Task Analysis (JTA) to ensure we are accurately testing the most current and relevant competencies necessary to ensure proficiency in the phlebotomy technician profession.

As a result of this extensive Job Analysis, an updated detailed test plan* for the CPT exam is now available here and a summary of the updates

Updated Preparation Materials Available October 4, 2017:

These contemporary online study materials have been enhanced to accommodate multiple types of learners and include features such as:

Updated Exam to Release on December 13, 2017:

Besides an increased focus on patient safety, the role of a phlebotomy technician has seen only minor shifts in responsibilities. Our exam has been updated with minimal impact to domains and content areas and will not cause any interruption to exam scoring. You can find the exam crosswalk here.

If you have test dates scheduled now through December 12th, you can continue to use the current study materials available.

  • Prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing
  • Verify patient/donor identity
  • Maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials
